The tomb was built by Muhammad Moosa Khan Khatiyarn – I, to commemorate his father Muhammad Ismaeel Khan Khatiarn, an eminent general of the Talpur Dynasty. Muhammad Ismaeel Khan Khatiarn fought alongside Mir Fateh Khan Talpur at the battle of Halani in 1783 A.D. against the Kalhora Dynasty. The battle resulted in the end of the Kalhora rule and the advent of the Talpur Dynasty in Sindh.
The beautiful tomb comprises of 11 graves of the Khatiarn tribe includes Muhammad lsmaeel Khan; Muhammad Moosa Khan-I; Ghulam Muhammad Khan; Ghulam Shah; Ghulam Hyder; Jan Muhammad; Ghulam Hyder; Mubarak Khan; and Shaheed Karimdad Khan along with others. The first personality to be entombed was Muhammad Ismaeel Khan Khatiarn who fought in the war of Halani, all the way to, Shaheed Karimdad Khan who was martyred in the battle of Miani.
The burnt bricks structure is in a square with 35’6” by 31’3” referring the elements of Mughal Architecture. However, stone is used in dome and façade. Extensive kashi work was done. Its height is 35’ besides the drum and dome height is 8’9” and 14’0” respectively.
With the passage of time the condition of the tomb deteriorated. Conservation work started in October 2021 and completed by December 2023.
