Documentation and Conservation Programme
17 January 2018 – Organised by EFT in collaboration with the District Government of Shikarpur, this programme was held to mark the inauguration of the two-week Heritage Awareness and Documentation/Conservation workshop to celebrate 400 years of Shikarpur’s heritage. Teams from Mehran University, Sindh University and Shah Abdul Latif Unviersity Khairpur conducted awareness walks and workshops, followed by the drawing up of conservation plans for selected heritage buildings.
Held at the Government Boys High School No. 2, the inauguration ceremony included addresses by Deputy Commissioner Shikarpur, engineer Wajahat Hussain Mahar and Dr. Nilofer Sheikh, all of whom emphasised the need to document and preserve the endangered heritage of Shikarpur. The session ended with a Heritage Awareness Walk to the Shahi Bagh.
